As part of our “You Matter. We Need You.” campaign, Jen kicked off her time in Mount Vernon by speaking to High School students about learning to listen to their inner critic and stay on their own side no matter what is going on in their lives. She shared guideposts along her personal journey through teen depression and into wholehearted living, deeply connected to a sense of being enough.

She then traveled to Cedar Rapids to be the inaugural guest on my Resiliency Matters  pilot TV show. This show, sponsored by Mediacom MC22, delivers resiliency research and best practices in bite-sized pieces as immediately usable tools.

We ended the day with dozens of fabulous Mount Vernon women at a Rest & Recharge Mid-Week Mini-Retreat. Jen led us in relaxation, shared daily resiliency tools, and facilitated an open and honest discussion about our ongoing journey of healing from deep and profound losses.

In between all of this activity, it was a joy to share my home life and our community life with Jen. Oh yes, and that burger she is still talking about from Lincoln Café.

Kudos to all of the good work being done in our pilot community of Mount Vernon. Many caring adults working together to strengthen an environment to help our youth thrive. Your efforts bring to life Jen’s simple but powerful equation:

self-love + world-love = wholeness for all

A BIG thank you to Jen Louden, a new friend of Thrive Mount Vernon. Your visit left us more rested, inspired, and connected…and for this we are grateful.

And a reminder to all…
You matter. We need you.
