Jan Jensen

Jensen, JanJan Jensen is in her 10th season as associate head coach of the Iowa Women’s Basketball team and her 24th season in college basketball as a player and coach. Nationally known on the recruiting scene, she serves as the recruiting coordinator and works with post players.  She has helped guide Iowa to 11 postseason appearances, including nine NCAA Tournament berths, and a Big Ten championship. Before becoming a Hawkeye, she served as first assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Drake University. One of the all-time best players at Drake, Jan led the nation in scoring as a senior and was the Gateway Conference Most Valuable Player, a Kodak Honorable Mention all-American, a member of the all-Gateway team, the GTE Academic all-American Player of the Year, and Sports Illustrated’s National Player of the Week. She is one of only two Drake players to have her number retired in the Knapp Center and is an inductee in the Iowa Girls High School Basketball Hall of Fame. After college, Jan played professionally in the European Professional Basketball League for BTV-Wuppertal in Germany and helped her club win the German Club Championship.  She graduated from Drake with a degree in Public Relations and went on to earn her Master’s in Higher Education. Widely recognized for her service and philanthropy, Jan was named the United Way of Johnson County Volunteer of the Year for her leadership of the Emerging Philanthropists Society and the Healthy Kids School-based Clinics Imitative
